Closing & Settlement
How to close a position, what to do when Close needs a second step, and how an account ends.
A Turbo Account has no expiry, so it ends in one of four ways.
| Ending | Trigger | Your profit |
|---|---|---|
| You close it | You close positions and close the account | Yours |
| Close-out | The loss limit is reached | Settled with o2 |
| Inactivity | The activity requirement is not met | Yours |
| Missed profit target | The profit target is not met in a 30-day period | Yours |
Closing a position
Use Close on the position row. Close all of it or part of it, at market or with a limit price.
A market close fills straight away against the market makers' quotes. A limit close rests on the Turbo book and fills when a quote reaches your price, and the position stays open until then. See Where Turbo orders match.
When Close needs a second step
Two situations account for almost every close that needs a moment longer.
An open order is holding the asset
Something is reserving what the close needs, usually a resting order or the position's own take-profit or stop-loss. Protective orders reserve funds when you set them rather than when they fire, so a position carrying TP/SL has that amount held.
The dialog offers to cancel what is in the way and close in one step. Take-profit and stop-loss are cancelled as a pair, since releasing the reservation takes both.
The account is close to its loss limit
Near the floor, o2 refuses orders whose worst-case fill could take the account past it.
Lower the slippage, or use a limit order priced at or better than the current price. A market order asks for room to fill through the current price; a limit order names the price you want.
Closing the account
To finish with an account:
- Close your positions on the trade page.
- Open Close Turbo Account from the Turbo tab and confirm.
- Your profit is withdrawn to your main o2 account as part of the close.
The premium is a price, not a deposit, so none of it comes back on a close. You only ever withdraw your profit.
If the account still owes o2 an asset it borrowed to short, buy it back first. The close flow names anything still outstanding.
Settlement
When an account ends, settlement runs in this order:
- Open positions are closed into the book.
- Anything borrowed to open a short is repaid.
- Deployed capital is returned.
- Your account size returns to o2.
- Everything above it is yours.
After an account ends
Buy another Turbo Account whenever you want to trade again. It starts fresh, with the full loss limit, a new 30-day activity window and a new first profit-target period.
Your main o2 account, and every balance you claimed into it, are unaffected throughout.
